Punjab Education Secretary Clarifies: No Extension in School Holidays
Punjab Education Secretary Khalid Nazir Watoo has strongly dismissed the rumors circulating on social media about an extension of school holidays in Punjab until September 5, 2025.
In an official statement, Watoo made it clear that the notification being widely shared online is completely fake and has no link with the Punjab School Education Department. He stressed, “No such notification has been issued regarding additional school holidays in Punjab.”
Parents, teachers, and students have been urged to avoid trusting unverified news and instead follow the official Facebook page of the School Education Department Punjab for authentic updates and announcements.
This clarification comes at a time when Punjab is facing severe flooding caused by heavy inflows after India released water into the eastern rivers. The rising levels of the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers have sparked concerns for community safety and triggered widespread evacuations.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), more than 210,000 people have already been shifted from flood-prone districts of Punjab. The Pakistan Army is also carrying out large-scale rescue and relief operations to ensure the safety of citizens. Thankfully, no loss of life has been reported so far despite the intensity of the floods.
The Punjab Education Department has reassured that schools will resume according to the regular schedule, and any future announcements will be shared only through official government channels.
